Something simple for dinner

It was a more hectic day than normal, but I manager to make it to the grocery store and put something fun together for dinner. Jessica is a fan of lamb and it's one of my favorites as well. We've been very lucky in Northwest Ohio with our Kroger stores carrying very good cuts of meat, including lamb and bison. So I found a couple very nice looking pieces of lamb shoulder and set out to find some vegetables to pair it with- until I looked at my watch and I realized it was getting late. Better use a time hack- steam-able frozen veggies. These have also gotten MUCH better in quality in the last few years. I found a great mukimame (conveniently shelled edamame) and cauliflower mixture. I snatched that right up, knowing the taste would go well with the lamb. I remembered the brown rice I had in my pantry and headed towards home. A little salt and pepper on the lamb, pan-seared for a four minutes per side while getting the vegetables ready to go. I'd say the presentation turn out fairly well for a 15 minute meal. I know JD was enjoying the opera music that I like to listen to while I cook, because his legs were kicking something fierce! He's going to love working in the kitchen when he's a little older. Which is good, because I hate doing dishes!
